Hey Wasteurself! Appreciate you taking the time to do this interview. To start off, could you tell us where the name ‘wasteurself’ came from?
wasteurself: This is a super loaded question for me. It’d take a book to explain it in a text interview format. I’ll try my best to summarize it for you guys in one sentence.
Wasteurself is an alter ego who’s name was influenced by an overall feeling and vibe that i wanted to harness at that time in my life.
With so much going on around the world in 2020, How was making music for you? Where did you pull inspiration for your track “Gimme”?
wasteurself: 2020 was my busiest year yet as was it for a lot of my peers. I pull inspiration from listening to my friend’s and peers’ music. It’s like when you see your friends do a cool trick at the skate park and you want to do a cool trick too; if not a cooler one.
How did the pandemic affect you creatively? How did it affect your overall production process?
wasteurself: The pandemic didn’t slow me down even a little bit. There’s a feeling of the playing field leveling out and that gave me fire. I needed that to get kicked into another gear
Have you learnt anything new during the lockdowns, even if it doesn’t have to do with music production?
wasteurself: Honestly nothing. Which isn’t so bad, I’ve been focusing on perfecting what I already know. I’m a perfectionist and I want releasing music to feel seemless.
What are some goals you’d like to achieve before the end of 2021?
wasteurself: I pick goals I think are very within my reach and I have a thing where I don’t like to say them out loud because they might actually happen soon.
I will say in a broad sense that i plan on getting more major placements and attempting to set myself up to make music my day job
I know you’ve got some HUGE releases planned for the near future, plug anything you’d like too and let the fans know what they can look forward to!
wasteurself: Later this month i have a release coming out on wubaholics and a mix with push collective!
I’d give you the dates but this is an excuse for the reader to look at my socials. Please come talk to me and keep up with my music; ill have news for you every week!
